Where to Begin

There are some moments in life that are so overwhelming that you don’t even know where to begin to process what’s happening.

Start with the breath. Allow the prana of your surroundings to ease into the parts that feel pain-physical and emotional. Allow it to seep in, to sit, to begin to work through the stuck energy or the overwhelm.

Don’t question your thoughts or try to make sense of them. Your job is only to sit. To be with them. To accept them exactly as they are. To accept your situation exactly as it is.

To try to change it is to deny reality. And when you deny reality, you aren’t processing anything. And there you will be, stuck again, because you didn’t allow the energy to work its way through.

Sit with the pain. Accept the pain. Take comfort in knowing that to feel pain, you must have also known something good. And sometimes, it’s okay to let go—of the person or the thing that brought you so much joy or sorrow. Because even if they’re no longer part of your life, they mattered. They shaped you. Celebrate that connection. Honor the emotion. It meant something. It helped you grow.

And how do you move forward? By accepting now and expecting nothing more than what you have in this moment. Know that anything can and will change from one moment to the next. So, breathe. Be with this moment. And go back to remembering who you are.
